Dashwood Projects, our gallery space at East 4th Street—between Bowery and Second Avenue just a few blocks from Dashwood Books, opened March 14, 2024.  It is an experimental space to extend the life and boundaries of our publishing program dedicated to exhibitions and selling work by artists we’ve collaborated with over the years.

PARTNERS asks Aaron Stern: What do you follow? YOUR ANSWER COMES HERE

10/23/26—10/25/26

Opening reception: 10/23/26   6–8PM
Dashwood Projects presents a collaboration between New York-based curator Aaron Stern and Takuhito Kawashima, founder of the Tokyo– and Paris-based magazine PARTNERS. After discovering a shared interest in many of the same artists, Stern and Kawashima developed an installation bringing together photographs from Stern’s archive of recent curatorial projects with work featured in the first four issues of PARTNERS.

PARTNERS is an independent annual magazine that begins each issue with a single question, inviting artists, photographers, researchers, and thinkers from different disciplines and generations to respond in their own ways. Beyond the printed page, the magazine seeks to create unexpected connections, relationships, and conversations between people and ideas.

The installation explores the connections between two independent approaches to photography, publishing and image making. Showing work from all four issues of PARTNERS— Araki, Juergen Teller, Tokuko Ushioda, Nigel Shafran, Yusuke Oono, Nobuya Hitsuda, Park Sung Jin, Yelena Yemchuk, Mike Mills along side a mix of artists from Stern's previous exhibitions— Jim Mangan, Peter Sutherland, Mark Borthwick, Shaniqwa Jarvis, Olivia Reavey, Laurel Thoma, Robert Nethery and many others.
